His incredible deck talents involve fusing funk, hip hop and breaks with his unique style of scratching and mixing, whilst his reputation as a true party rocker has won him primetime slots across the UK at FabricLive, Spectrum, Chew The Fat, Supercharged, The Boutique and Sugarbeat as well as gigs around the world at major events, festivals and music industry parties such as The Hit Factory (New York), WMC (Miami) and Field Day (Sydney). Ladies and Gentlemen…. this is A.Skillz.
In 2003 A.Skillz released his debut album TrickaTechnology alongside Finger Lickin’s very own Krafty Kuts. The album was a nod towards musical influences like De La Soul, James Brown and Jurassic 5, true Finger Lickin’ Funk that enlisted the talents of some of the world’s best hip hop and funk artists including Kurtis Blow, Real Elements and Ashley Freakpower Slater.
February 2004 saw A.Skillz & Krafty Kuts team up on the TrickaTechnology Tour with live MCs from the album playing shows all over the UK. The duo then went on to DJ together leaving audiences and dance floors astounded with their skills on four decks and four CDJs, playing at Glastonbury Festival, Pacha (Ibiza) and a live session for Steve Lamaq on BBC Radio 1. A.Skillz then embarked on his first solo tour of Australia which saw him play to sell out crowds in all major capital cities, gaining new fans and respect from fellow DJs along the way. He followed this by extensive gigs in the UK and a busy studio schedule producing music for Channel 4 (Talk Back), Renault (TV advert) and Sony Playstation (Gran Tourismo 4).
A.Skillz kicked off 2005 in January with a mini-mix for Annie Mac that was later voted best mini-mix of the year by Radio 1 listeners, beating industry heavyweights such as Basement Jaxx, Mylo and Scratch Perverts. He followed this with a series of remixes including The Fort Knox Five and a re-rub of his own track Simple Things, together with a multitude of gigs including 10:15 (San Francisco), Snow Bombing (Austria) Mystery Lands Festival (Amsterdam) Homelands (UK), Live 8 After Show Party (London).
2006 & 07 were massive years. First came ‘Export 02′, his funktastic first mix album for Finger Lickin Records, a release that continues to fly off the shelves with it’s frenetic fuse of funk driven hip hop and bass heavy breakbeat. Following that came a massive 27 date tour of the UK, sponsored by Vodka giants Revolution catapulting Mr. Skillz to nationwide acclaim.
2008 has possibly been Skillz’ finest year. He’s clocked up some serious air miles playing across Canada, America, Australia and Europe whilst continuing to produce the finest in dance floor bangers including Strawberry Jam Forever, L.S.D and his highly sort after party monster Come Together. To end the year on a high, he has been hand picked by none other than soul and funk pioneer Norman Jay to provide the beats for his very own Good Times Live New Years Eve bash! But be warned…if you think that’s impressive, the best is yet to come!

MAT THE ALIEN BIO (REALLY GOOD RECORDS):
http://www.myspace.com/matthealien
Let’s clear something up. Technically Mat is not an Alien. He grew up not too far from Manchester (U.K) and moved to Canada in the mid 90’s to follow his snowboarding addiction which he stumbled upon during a trip to austria. He has been djing since 88 and was inspired to play the drums by local bands such as (The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays) after being introduced to the dj culture of the acid house warehouse party’s he was hooked on blending beat’s on the turn tables.
He further developed his style while working in his family’s record store (opened by his dad at age 4). It wasn’t until after he arrived in Canada that his turntable abilities suddenly jumped to new heights. Heights later described by Knowledge Magazine as, “Awe inspiring & some next level shit.” Mats music selection appeals to a wide variety of crowds, spanning many genres from hip hop, funk, dancehall, breakbeats, drum & bass, rock, and more. He learned this from djing in Whistler to varied crowds of people visiting from all over the world.
Mat has toured across the globe at events of up to 10,000 people, pioneering regular club nights in Whistler, Vancouver and held down a bi-weekly night in Las Vegas at eye candy (Mandalay Bay) for 8 months. He has performed alongside most of his favorite acts, some were down to earth, others not. With crates as deep as a black hole he has combined world class mixing and scratching skills and is considered “Really Good” by anyone who sees him. Mat was chosen to represent Canada and rock the party at Canada House during the 2006 Winter Olympics. He has produced many mix CDs, released his debut self produced CD “Downtime” and been busy making music and scratching on music that has appeared on TV shows such as : MTV’s Anna Nicole Smith, A&E Biography, Danny Bonaduce Reality TV Show, the theme tune to the Ride Guide Mountain Bike Show and also on video games including NBA Street Homecourt for EA Sports.
Mix CD highlights are the 2002 C1RCA Presents Knowledge Magazine Mix CD, which showcased his ability to blend several styles of music seamlessly. Over 80,000 copies of the CD were distributed worldwide, to critical and popular acclaim. The follow up was C1RCA Presents C1pher 2004 which also featured DJ Dopey, the 2003 World DMC Champion and made big waves throughout the global DJ community. Next up was a collaboration CD with UK beatboxer Killa Kela and next in line is a mix with the Scribble Jam 3-time Champion Scratch Bastid. Mat’s cuts can be heard on 6 tracks on the new album from Fort Knox Five “Radio Free DC”, as well as 2 tracks on the latest Sweatshop Union album.
On another note Mat has also changed the way people play records with “Mat’sMat’s,” slipmat’s for 45’s allowing Dj’s to scratch and cue 45 rpm records the same as they would a 12-inch, there is also Boca 45 (Dynamo Productions ) LTD edition run of Mat’sMat’s. At shows mat is know for pristine, quick mixing of many genres usually driven by heavy basslines and scratching techniques. That does sound like it came from another world! Did Mat really get abducted by aliens ??? We’ll never know but one thing is certain, Mat the Alien is capable of some out of this world dj sets.
