Ken Melaned
For those interested, there is an opportunity to sit down with the Mayor of Whistler, Ken Melamed and the town council and talk about the 2009 budget.
Before Ken was reelected in November, he made a promise to the people of Whistler (that includes you), that he would be transparent and engage in a discussion about the 2009 budget with the residents.
Obviously this is important. This is a tough economic time for most of us that live here in Whistler. It’s important to have the money that we spend through taxes go to appropriate facets.
Ken seems to be a very down to Earth man and I’d strongly recommend that people get involved with local politics and express your opinion. This is the time to talk to the man who makes changes directly. Whether it be a question or comment about housing, food, energy, or even lifestyle.
The meeting will include:
- Brief introduction by Mayor Ken Melamed
- “Municipal Budget 101″ presentation by Lisa Landry, General Manager of Economic Viability
- Presentation of a draft time line for public meetings and communication about budget
- Question and answer period.
The meeting takes place Monday, January 12, 2009 from 7 pm to 9 pm in the Whistler Public Library (4329 Main Street) lounge.
