This year demand for the food bank is up… Big time! Davin Moore, runs the food bank and has made a few comments to the Pique regarding the demand and the supply of food for the food bank.
Maybe because of the late season, and serious crunch on affordable housing here in Whistler, maybe because of the economic crunch, but donations for the food bank are down and people aren’t able to afford the food here at the expensive IGA and The Grocer.
If you want to contribute to society, donate to the food bank.
There are bins at most grocery stores. Pick up a few cans of soup, a couple packets of pasta, and drop them in. It’s one of the best things you can do for the holidays, and it’ll cost you less than $5. If 100 people donate a few items, we can feed several families, dozens of individuals and it’ll really make a difference. Whistler poverty exists.
You can also donate cash.
All cash donations will go directly to inexpensive food. Cash donations can be made at the Whistler Community Services Society.
If you’re looking for food.
The food bank does hand outs on the first and third Monday of every month. You can pick up food from the trailer behind the Catholic Church on Lorimer Rd.
If you need food.
