D12 are coming to town. I’m sure you’ve read about it in the Pique (page 95, full page spread). Well they’re coming to town on Tuesday and they’re playing a show at Garfinkel’s. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Billabong for $20. In addition to D12 you can check out Royce Da 5′9 and Joe Budden. If you like hip-hop this show will be awesome. But even if you aren’t really into hip-hop or aren’t familiar with D12 - Maybe I can fill you in.

First of all, I had the privilege of meeting Bizarre and Proof (rest in peace) back in 2004 when I used to work for muchmusic.com. They’re awesome cool dudes. Proof was killed in a gun battle back in Detroit back in April 2006. I’ve seen their shows twice and they’re so fun. They have a really good stage presence and the show will be so rad. By the way, even though Eminem is in D12, he won’t be there. He never is. Too cool for school, dude.

Here’s some soap opera drama for you that may spark your interest in the shows. Royce Da 5′9 was an artist who was really tight with Eminem and did a few songs with him after Eminem was signed to Dr. Dre’s label Aftermath. A few years later Royce Da 5′9 popped out of nowhere and produced a track disrespecting D12 really hard. See video 1 - Malcolm X by Royce Da 5′9.

Then after D12 did a couple dis tracks back at Royce Da 5′9, Eminem and D12 put this official release, responding to Royce on their D12 World album. See video 2 - How Come by D12.

But after all that they’re together and touring. Which is cool! I’m super stoked to go. I’m sure if you’re not familiar with hip-hop you’ve not heard of Joe Budden, but you’ve probably heard his song Pump It Up, which is video 3.

See ya at the show! Watch for the WhistlerWatch Photographer!
